Discover Taste Of Taj Restaurant & Bar

Walking into Taste Of Taj Restaurant & Bar feels like stepping into a place where comfort and curiosity meet. I stopped by on a busy weekday evening after hearing consistent praise from locals around Perry Hall, and the steady flow of diners told me those reviews weren’t exaggerating. The aroma of slow-simmered spices hit before the door even closed behind me, and that first sensory impression set the tone for the rest of the experience.

The menu reads like a guided tour through classic Indian cuisine with a few thoughtful modern touches. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by Indian menus, this one feels friendly without being watered down. I watched a server patiently explain spice levels to a first-time guest, using everyday comparisons instead of jargon. That small moment mattered. According to a 2023 National Restaurant Association report, diners are 40% more likely to return when staff help them customize meals, and Taste Of Taj Restaurant & Bar clearly understands that dynamic in real life.

My own order followed a familiar but telling path. I started with vegetable samosas, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, which showed careful temperature control in the fryer. Then came chicken tikka masala, a dish often mishandled elsewhere. Here, the sauce was balanced rather than heavy, and the chicken retained its texture instead of dissolving into the gravy. This reflects a traditional marination process using yogurt and spices, a method endorsed by culinary institutes like the Indian Culinary Institute for preserving moisture and flavor. The garlic naan arrived blistered and soft, clearly baked to order rather than reheated.

What stands out most is consistency, something reviewers often mention online. Scanning recent reviews before my visit, I noticed repeated comments about dependable quality, whether someone visited during lunch hours or late dinner. Consistency is one of the hardest things to maintain in food service, especially for spice-driven cuisines where even small deviations matter. The kitchen here seems to rely on measured spice blends prepared in advance, a professional technique used to reduce variance across shifts.

The bar side deserves attention too. While many Indian restaurants treat drinks as an afterthought, this place integrates them naturally. I tried a mango-infused cocktail that balanced sweetness with acidity instead of overwhelming the palate. Alcohol pairing with Indian food is tricky due to spice intensity, but Taste Of Taj Restaurant & Bar approaches it thoughtfully. Studies published by the Beverage Information Group suggest fruit-forward cocktails complement spiced dishes better than bitter profiles, and that insight clearly shows up in practice here.

Location plays a role in its appeal as well. Sitting at 9810 Belair Rd, Perry Hall, MD 21128, United States, the restaurant is easy to reach without feeling lost in a strip-mall blur. Parking is straightforward, which may sound minor, but convenience shapes dining decisions more than people admit. A 2022 Yelp diner behavior survey found that ease of access directly affects repeat visits, especially for suburban restaurants.

I also appreciated how the staff handled dietary questions. A nearby table asked about dairy-free options, and the server explained which dishes could be adjusted without compromising flavor. Transparency like that builds trust. While cross-contamination is always a possibility in shared kitchens, Taste Of Taj Restaurant & Bar openly acknowledges limits rather than making unrealistic promises, which aligns with FDA restaurant guidance on allergen communication.

Throughout the evening, I kept noticing small operational details: warm plates for hot dishes, properly timed courses, and attentive but unintrusive service. These aren’t accidents. They reflect training and experience, the kind you don’t fake. One diner I spoke with mentioned driving in from another neighborhood because, in his words, worth the extra drive. Another couple at the bar summed it up as reliable comfort with real flavor, and that phrase stuck with me because it captures the experience accurately.

For anyone exploring Indian food or simply looking for a dependable restaurant with character, the menu, service style, and overall execution work together smoothly. Not every dish will match every palate, especially if you’re sensitive to spice, but the flexibility and honesty here make it easy to find something that fits.

  • I was treated to lunch here last Sunday for my birthday. The food was very delicious and very filling. I grew up eating Indian food, so I was excited for an all-you-can eat experience. It was well worth it. I no longer eat meat, but there's fish and lots of tasty and absolutely delicious veggie options to eat; for example, the sauteed veggies, mushrooms, cauliflower, and palak paneer. The food was so filling that after I piled my plate once, I was so full I couldn't eat another bite. The veggie noodles were absolutely delicious but has a mild spicy kick to it, but I kept eating it. I had water to drink. I give the food 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10. I plan to take my family this weekend, GODWILLING.

  • The food is always delicious and the service is good as well. They make the food specifically to your spice level preference also. The dishes come hot and fresh, so you know it is being made to order. Reasonable prices too.

  • Ordered via Uber Eats to my truck while parked at the Maryland House Service Plaza. I went with the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, and let me tell you, this meal delivered in more ways than one. The portion was generous, so much so that even though I was starving, I had to pace myself to finish it all. The chicken was tender, white meat, and everything tasted fresh, hot, and full of flavor. While I rated the environment and service a 2.5 based purely on assumptions (since I didn’t dine in or interact with staff), the food itself made a strong impression. If it was this good delivered to a truck stop, I can only imagine how it hits fresh at the table. I’d definitely stop by the restaurant next time I’m rolling through the area.

  • Came to dine in this afternoon at 4:45, but they were going to close at 5 for a party. We got take out instead. Male staff who initially took our order (lamb tikka masala, chicken biryani, garlic naan) at the reception area was nice and apologetic we couldn’t dine in. Female cashier apparently didn’t get our order in the system and asked us to repeat it. She then informed us that our ordered lamb tikka masala was not available on their menu. We switched to chicken tikka masala and lamb biryani instead. Male staff who initially took our order came back out from the kitchen and verified we changed the chicken biryani to lamb. Our order came out not long after and was handed to us by the male staff in a brown paper bag stapled shut. Came home to realize our garlic naan wasn’t in the bag (this was very disappointing). Food was tasty, but wasn’t very happy with today’s experience due to the missing naan. We are repeat customers, we’ve loved this place since it was Taste of Taj, and would definitely come back again. Lesson learned to make sure to check our order next time. Hopefully the staff does the same.

  • Good and freshly cooked food they set out for the lunch buffet. Flavorful and tasty. Freshly prepared hot/toasted naan was awesome! Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere for the location it is in.

  • 10 stars if possible. Just totally WOWED ME TODAY. I love Indian food but honestly my range of menu items is quite on the novice side. I went to the lunch buffet and every item displayed on the table was stellar. The Food was as fresh as it could possibly be. All the dishes popped with atmospheric tasting spices. The waiting staff were quick at seating us and even faster at making sure we had our drinks and plates refilled and taken away promptly. If you’re looking for an amazing meal for a TASTE OF TAJ is your place to be ..

  • My parents and I went for their afternoon buffet. They had a wide variety of dishes available along with fresh naan brought to the table at the beginning of our meal. The waitstaff were very attentive and polite. We will be back again.
